Here are the top five stories in Pawtucket today:

  1. Previously a member of Pawtucket’s Juvenile Hearing Board and Mayor Donald Grebien’s Community Advisory Board, community member Tyler McFeeters has announced that he is running for School Committee in this year’s elections. He is an active volunteer, avid hockey, baseball and boxing fan and enjoys visiting parks around the city with his son.(Valley Breeze)
  2. The Leon Mathieu Senior Center announced a new six-week program, “Tools for Healthy Living.” Workshops will take place every Monday, starting March 7, from noon to 2 p.m. (Valley Breeze)
  3. The Verizon Foundation has awarded the Pawtucket Public Library with a $5,000 grant to provide workforce preparation training for teens. The training preparation program will be a series of four workshops focusing on employment opportunities, resume writing, interview skills and more. (Valley Breeze)
  4. Using agriculture as a springboard and training tool to educate Rhode Island residents who were previously incarcerated, this spring, city-based Roots2Empower (formerly known as Restoration Urban Farm of New England) will begin to provide agricultural training to help people land on their feet after prison (Valley Breeze)
  5. It’s almost time for the first-ever Rhode Island Craft Beer Week! Beginning this weekend, March 5 to March 13 enjoy everything “beer” Rhode Island has to offer. With some 60 events planned for breweries, bars and restaurants there will be something for everyone. (The Providence Journal)
