Local manufacturers were able to test out some new technology at Cadillac Baker College today thanks to the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center.
The center held a seminar at Baker College on the latest technology in the manufacturing industry.
Manufacturers were able to see 3D printers, Co-Bots, or collaborative robots, as well as monitoring systems in action.
“I think it’s just really important to get the word out to manufactures about these technologies and what’s available, and it’s kind of conceptual,” said Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center Senior Business Advisor Kevin Olds. “They’re thinking about how they can implement these things, so I think the real benefit of coming to an event like this is just to be able to see these things and play around with them.”
Baker College says events like these helps keep northern Michigan companies stay competitive.
“By incorporating some of these technologies, it will help benefit production and growth of jobs and it’s just really vital,” said Baker College Employer Relations Specialist Katelyn Richard. “Especially in Michigan’s economy, because we are a very large manufacturing state.”
The Manufacturing Technology Center also says these events help connect manufacturers to what’s new in the business.
