On Saturday, March 12, six Gobbler powerlifters traveled to Saratoga, Texas to compete in the Regional Powerlifting meet. The six competing included: Cameron Body, Alex Brown, JaVaree Bacon, Cody Baker, Daniel Hughston, and Kyle Weghorst. The week prior, the Lady Gobblers had two lifters compete at Regionals. Morgan Goebel, a two-time qualifier and Elizabeth Gonzales, a three-time qualifier.
Four Gobblers would go on to qualify for the State Meet that will be held this weekend, March 26, in Abilene.
Cody Baker won his 181-pound weight class with a total of 1,390 pounds, squatting 560 pounds.
JaVaree Bacon, competing in the 198-pound class, finished second overall with a total of 1,440 pounds.
Daniel Hughston, also finished second in his 132-pound weight club, lifting 970 total pounds.
Kyle Weghorst finished third overall in the 275 weight division, lifting 1,550 pounds total.
