MANSFIELD – Shambaugh Cleaning and Restoration, which has celebrated 37 years of business, is now moving its location.
In the 23 years after Jeremy and Lori Shambaugh bought the business from his father, Paul, it has outgrown its accommodations. The business today consists of five 24/7-365 divisions: Water & Fire Mitigation, Board UP/victim assistance, Fire Restoration, Pack Out, Carpet/Duct work cleaning.
Shambaugh has 25 employees, a 14-truck fleet and a new location: 519 Home Rd. This 18,000 square-foot facility will enable the continued growth of this rapidly expanding business. The business is now set to handle all individual, commercial, and public needs throughout north central Ohio.
Shambaugh Restoration continues to be a family-owned business. The operation now covers 12 counties for its core business units and 18 counties for 800-PackOut. Shambaugh recognizes its workforce performance has enabled this move to the new location.
Jeremy Shambaugh said he focuses his business on his employees.
“Without them we could not serve our customer base at the level they have grown used to,” he said.
Jeremy believes in the motto “life gives to the giver and takes from the taker.”
“Every day we get an opportunity to help a homeowner or business owner overcome a catastrophe,” Shambaugh said. “This is usually the first time someone has gone through a flooding or fire event. We look at this opportunity to serve our neighbor and community.
“There are no bad days when you are helping those in need. We restore lives one home at a time.”
Starting way back in August of 1985, Paul Shambaugh started the company’s journey off with cleaning carpet and upholstery for homeowners in Richland, Crawford, Ashland, Morrow and Knox counties.
Shambaugh and his two sons, Jeff and Jeremy did everything from booking the appointments, washing the van and ordering supplies to cleaning all carpets and furniture.
The family-ran business had one van and a lot of blood, sweat and tears trying to make the business survive let alone thrive.
In 1999, Paul Shambaugh retired from the cleaning business and let the second generation take over.
This was great timing because Jeremy Shambaugh was notified that the factory he was working for at the time was closing its doors.
Jeremy Shambaugh, 25 at the time, was already married and had a 3-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter and was excited to have the opportunity to continue the family business and make it thrive.
For the last 23 years, Jeremy Shambaugh has taken the company from consisting of himself and one truck to 14 trucks and covering 18 counties.
Shambaugh Cleaning & Restoration is one of the only companies in Ohio that have technicians featuring Multiple Master Certifications from the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration.
Shambaugh Cleaning and Restoration now not only cleans carpet and furniture, but they also clean Oriental & Persian rugs, tile and grout, refinish hardwood floors and clean furnace ducts, and that’s only a portion of the company.
They are also a full-service restoration company. Shambaugh help homeowners in need after storm damage, flood damage, fire damage, wind damage and mold damage. A one-stop shop after your disaster, they can clean it, dry it, fix it and completely rebuild it.
“We guide clients from start to finish. It’s a very traumatic experience for homeowners and business owners who have just lost everything in a fire or flood loss,” Shambaugh said. “After 30 years of being in a family business it is awesome doing business for second and third generation families.
“I also am extremely grateful each day for the opportunity I have to help families in need and help families put the pieces back together after a devastating loss. We’re there when you need us the most.”
